Women in IT

Women in IT

  Educate,

 Enlighten,

 Enrich!

Women in IT was founded based on the premise that despite women's advances in the workplace, men still dominate careers in technology. Women make up almost half of today's workforce, yet hold just a fraction of the jobs in certain high-earning, high-qualification fields. According to a study conducted by The Boston Globe, women constitute less than one quarter of the certified IT professionals in the US.  Startling Industry Statistics:

  • 13 % of corporate officer positions at Fortune 500 technology companies held by women.
  • Women represent 15% of Advanced Placement computer science (CS) exam-taker; that's the lowest female representation of any AP exam.
  • Today women earn only 19% of all CS degrees. Back in 1984, women earned 37% of CS degrees.
  • Women hold more than ½ of all professional occupations in the U.S. but fewer than 26% of all computing-related occupations.
  • A study on U.S. technology patenting reveals that patents created by mixed-gender teams are the most highly cited (an indicator of their innovation and usefulness); yet women were involved in only 9% of U.S. tech patents.

We Believe

Organizations are not leveraging the full potential of their workforce.  Women have inherent problem solving, multi-tasking and trouble-shooting skills that are not fully realized within their organization.  Today, women make up only 26% of the IT Professional workforce and even fewer have chosen to upgrade their skill set through certifications.  By identifying the cause of this trend and leveraging effective efforts; we feel we can help build a platform for achievement and accelerated progress for women in the IT field.

Our Focus

By targeting women that are currently in the IT industry, we can identify the cause of the alarming gender gap in the IT workforce and help eliminate any roadblocks that women experience when looking to upgrade their skills.  We feel that the key is to work with our clients to create awareness and ultimately help accelerate women's participation in IT.
